Supply Desk is seeking a confident, reliable, and enthusiastic Cover Supervisor to join a welcoming and inclusive secondary school in the Watford area from September.
This is a fantastic opportunity for an individual who is passionate about education and enjoys working with young people. The successful candidate will play an important role in maintaining continuity of learning by supervising classes in the absence of their usual teacher and ensuring pupils remain engaged, focused, and well supported.
Working across different subjects and year groups, you will deliver pre-prepared lesson materials, manage classroom behaviour, and provide a positive and structured learning environment. The school is looking for someone who can establish strong relationships with pupils, maintain high expectations, and confidently manage a classroom independently.

The Role- Supervise classes across a range of subjects and year groups in the absence of the regular classroom teacher.
- Deliver pre-prepared lesson plans and learning activities, ensuring pupils remain engaged and focused.
- Maintain a calm, positive, and purposeful classroom environment.
- Manage pupil behaviour effectively in line with the school's behaviour policies and procedures.
- Provide clear instructions and support pupils with their learning where appropriate.
- Ensure pupils complete assigned tasks and make appropriate progress during lessons.
- Monitor pupil engagement and behaviour, providing feedback to teaching staff where required.
- Establish positive and professional relationships with pupils while maintaining appropriate boundaries.
- Support pupils with different learning needs and encourage an inclusive classroom environment.
- Assist with classroom organisation and other duties as required by the school.
- Work collaboratively with teachers, support staff, and the wider school team.
- Contribute to the wider school community through enrichment activities and school events.
- Uphold high standards of safeguarding, behaviour, and pupil wellbeing.
- Has previous experience working with young people in a school, education, youth work, or similar setting.
- Has strong classroom management and behaviour management skills.
- Is confident supervising groups of secondary school pupils independently.
- Has excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Is able to follow lesson plans and deliver instructions clearly and effectively.
- Is calm, professional, reliable, and confident when dealing with challenging situations.
- Is passionate about supporting young people and helping them achieve their potential.
- Can quickly build positive relationships with pupils and establish clear boundaries.
- Is adaptable and confident working across different subjects, year groups, and classroom environments.
- Has a good understanding of safeguarding and child protection procedures.
- Is reliable, proactive, and able to work effectively as part of a wider school team.
