The Role

As a Cover Supervisor, you will play a vital role in maintaining continuity of learning during the short-term absence of teaching staff. You will cover classes across the school, ensure pupils remain engaged with pre-set work, and help uphold the school's high expectations for behaviour and achievement.

You will also contribute to the wider school community by participating in break and lunchtime duty rotas, helping to maintain a safe and supportive environment for all pupils.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise classes across the school during teacher absences.
  • Deliver pre-set work and ensure students remain focused and engaged.
  • Manage classroom behaviour effectively, maintaining a safe and respectful learning environment.
  • Support students with additional needs, including Autism, ADHD, SEMH, and speech and language difficulties.
  • Participate in break and lunchtime supervision duties.
  • Work closely with teachers and support staff to promote student progress and wellbeing.

The Ideal Candidate

  • Is a confident and organised communicator who enjoys working with young people.
  • Has strong classroom management skills or the ability to develop them quickly.
  • Has previous experience working with children or young people (desirable).
  • Has experience supporting pupils with SEND, including Autism, ADHD, SEMH, or speech and language difficulties (highly desirable).
  • Demonstrates strong transferable skills and a genuine passion for education.
  • Is committed to creating a positive and inclusive learning environment.
