Tradewind is looking for enthusiastic, reliable and confident Cover Supervisors to join our growing pool and work across a range of our secondary partnership schools in Sheffield and the surrounding areas.

This is an excellent opportunity for individuals who are passionate about education and enjoy working with young people. Whether you are an experienced Cover Supervisor, Teaching Assistant, education professional, or looking to gain valuable experience within a secondary school environment, we would love to hear from you.

As part of the Tradewind pool, you will have the flexibility to work across different schools throughout Sheffield and the surrounding areas, gaining valuable experience within a variety of educational settings.

As a Cover Supervisor, you will be responsible for supervising students during lessons when their regular teacher is unavailable. You will ensure that students remain focused, engaged and well behaved while following the lesson plans and work provided by teaching staff.

• Supervise classes of secondary school students in the absence of their regular teacher.
• Deliver and explain pre-prepared lesson activities and instructions.
• Maintain a positive, calm and purposeful learning environment.
• Manage classroom behaviour in line with school policies.
• Ensure students remain on task and complete the work provided.
• Support students with their learning where appropriate.
• Take registers and maintain accurate records where required.
• Report any concerns, incidents or issues to the appropriate member of school staff.
• Follow school safeguarding, health and safety and other relevant policies.
• Build positive and professional relationships with students and school staff.
• Adapt to different school environments, routines and expectations.
• Contribute to the wider life and positive culture of the school when required.

We are looking for candidates who:

• Have experience working with young people, ideally within a secondary school or educational setting.
• Are confident managing groups of students and maintaining classroom discipline.
• Have excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Are reliable, punctual and professional.
• Can follow lesson plans and instructions effectively.
• Have a calm, patient and positive approach to behaviour management.
• Are able to work independently and use their initiative.
• Can adapt quickly to different schools, subjects and classroom environments.
• Are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
• Have the confidence to establish clear boundaries while developing positive relationships with students.
• Are able to travel to schools across Sheffield and the surrounding areas.

Relevant qualifications and previous school experience are desirable but not essential, depending on the role and school requirements.
