Description

Key Responsibilities of a Lifting Supervisor:

  • Communication: Maintaining clear and effective communication with crane operators, signallers, and other relevant personnel. 

  • Safety Management: Identifying and mitigating potential hazards, ensuring proper load security, and implementing risk management strategies. 

  • Inspection and Maintenance: Conducting pre-lift inspections and ensuring equipment is properly maintained. 

  • Documentation: Maintaining records of lifting operations and reporting any incidents or near misses

  • Planning and Coordination: Developing and implementing lifting plans, coordinating personnel, and ensuring all equipment is in safe working order. 

  • Supervision: Directing and overseeing lifting operations, ensuring adherence to safety regulations and procedures. 

  • Essential Skills and Qualifications:

  • Technical Knowledge: Understanding of lifting equipment, safety regulations, and risk assessment. 
  • Leadership Skills: Ability to lead and motivate a team, make decisions under pressure, and communicate effectively. 
  • Communication Skills: Clear and concise communication with all members of the lifting team. 
  • Physical Fitness: Ability to perform duties in a physically demanding environment. 
  • Training and Certification: Completion of a recognized lifting supervisor training program, such as a Level 4 NVQ Diploma in Controlling Lifting Operations (Construction), and holding a relevant card (e.g., CPCS or NPORS
