Credit Controller / Accounts Payable Assistant
Peterborough | £21.00 per hour FCSA Umbrella (Inside IR35) | £15.40 per hour PAYE | 6–9 Month Contract | Immediate Start
Office based 5 days PW in Peterborough
An excellent opportunity has become available for an experienced Credit Controller to join a global manufacturing organisation at their Peterborough site. This is an initial 6–9 month contract with the potential for extension, supporting a busy Finance team during a period of significant business activity and process change.
Working within a collaborative Accounts Receivable team, you'll be responsible for managing customer accounts, chasing outstanding payments, reducing aged debt and supporting a range of finance-related projects. This is a varied role offering exposure to an international customer base within a well-established engineering business.
Key Responsibilities
  • Managing a portfolio of customer accounts and collecting outstanding payments.
  • Reducing aged debt whilst maintaining strong customer relationships.
  • Negotiating payment plans and resolving account queries.
  • Producing regular updates and reports using Microsoft Excel.
  • Supporting month-end activities and account reconciliations.
  • Working closely with internal departments to resolve payment issues.
  • Contributing to process improvements and supporting ongoing finance projects.
What We're Looking For
  • Previous Credit Control or Accounts Receivable experience.
  • Strong Microsoft Excel skills.
  • Good computer literacy and experience using accounting or ERP systems.
  • Confident communicator with the ability to build relationships and professionally chase outstanding payments.
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities within a busy team environment.
Experience within manufacturing or engineering, knowledge of credit insurance, Power BI, or membership of the Institute of Credit Management (ICM) would be advantageous but is not essential.

  • Peterborough (fully office-based, five days per week)
  • Immediate start available.
  • Initial 6–9 month contract with the possibility of extension.
  • £21.00 per hour FCSA Umbrella (Inside IR35).
  • £15.40 per hour PAYE also available.
