The Role

We are seeking an experienced Credit & Finance Manager to take full responsibility for the accounting and finance function of a well-established business.

Working alongside the Accounts Assistants, this is a hands-on role requiring a flexible approach and the ability to communicate confidently with colleagues, directors and external parties.

This is a full-time, office-based position.

Candidate Requirements

  • Significant accounting experience at management level is essential.
  • Experience using Sage 50 Cloud, Sage Payroll and Microsoft Excel is essential.
  • Experience in credit risk management is desirable.
  • AAT Level 4 qualification or CIMA finalist status is preferred.
  • CICM qualification or membership would be advantageous.
  • Strong commercial awareness and excellent attention to detail.
  • Confident communication and stakeholder-management skills.
  • Ability to work independently and take ownership of the finance function.

Key Responsibilities

Take full responsibility for the company’s cash management, including the sales and purchase ledgers.

Prepare and present monthly management accounts to the Directors, including balance sheet, profit and loss, and budget variance reports.

Manage fixed assets and associated reporting.

Oversee stock reporting and reconciliation.

Produce sales analysis and reporting as part of the monthly management accounts pack.

Prepare cash-flow forecasts and complete bank reconciliations.

Create, manage and monitor company budgets.

Manage the company’s invoice finance facility and maintain relationships with banks and financial providers.

Oversee credit-control procedures and the collection of outstanding customer payments and aged debts.

Manage customer credit limits in real time, working closely with the sales team to provide financially informed guidance on customer accounts.

Produce weekly credit-risk reports for the Directors.

Set, review and manage customer credit limits.

Manage the company’s credit-insurance policy and liaise with brokers and underwriters.

Ensure all statutory payments are made accurately and on time.

Manage VAT requirements, including import and export compliance.

Process salaries and wages using Sage Payroll.

Control UK and international supplier payments, including foreign-currency accounts and transactions.

Liaise with auditors, accountants and other external parties.

Manage the company’s insurance requirements in conjunction with brokers.

Support wider company purchasing decisions and identify appropriate finance options based on cost and affordability.

Provide financial advice and assistance to the Directors regarding potential future investments or acquisitions.

Contribute to strategic business planning and financial reviews.

Identify opportunities to streamline financial processes, controls and procedures.
