Senior / Advanced Children’s Social Worker

Pay Rate: £37.54 per hour (Umbrella)

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Senior / Advanced Children’s Social Worker to join a Children’s Social Care team based in Colindale, London.

Working within a Resilience Framework, you will provide a comprehensive, effective and integrated social work service to children and families, responding to complex needs and safeguarding concerns in a timely and effective manner.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced social worker who can demonstrate strong leadership, advanced practice skills and the ability to manage complex cases while supporting and developing less experienced colleagues.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality social work interventions to children and families with complex needs.
• Undertake assessments, develop care plans and implement safeguarding and permanence arrangements.
• Manage high levels of risk and complexity, ensuring children's safety and wellbeing remain paramount.
• Provide guidance, supervision, support and mentoring to less experienced social workers.
• Demonstrate expert professional judgement and autonomous decision-making in complex situations.
• Deputise for the line manager when required or when delegated by the Head of Service.
• Take a lead role in a specialist area of practice in line with departmental policies and procedures.
• Ensure all social work practice complies with statutory legislation, guidance and local authority requirements.
• Work collaboratively with families, partner agencies and multi-disciplinary professionals to achieve positive outcomes for children.

Essential Requirements

• Substantial post-qualifying experience within a statutory Children’s Social Care setting.
• Recognised Social Work qualification.
• Current Social Work England registration.
• Strong experience in safeguarding, child protection and permanence planning.
• Proven ability to manage complex cases and assess high levels of risk.
• Experience supporting, mentoring and developing less experienced social workers.
• Excellent leadership, communication and decision-making skills.
• Ability to work autonomously and demonstrate advanced professional practice.

Desirable:

• Practice Educator Award.
• Candidates without the Practice Educator Award must be willing to achieve this within their first year of employment.
