The job description below outlines the position of Night Shift Marine Engineer (CTV).
Typically, this person will be responsible for carrying out the engineering and maintenance duties onboard a fleet of Crew Transfer Vessels (CTVs) operating in Cumbria. The vessels are alongside every day, allowing local candidates to return home after each shift. Candidates from outside the area are also encouraged to apply, with travel and accommodation provided by the employer.

Duties and Responsibilities of the Night Shift Marine Engineer (CTV)
- Carry out planned preventative maintenance and reactive repairs onboard CTV vessels.
- Diagnose and rectify mechanical and basic electrical faults.
- Monitor and maintain the performance of main engines and auxiliary machinery.
- Ensure all maintenance activities are completed safely and in accordance with company procedures.
- Maintain accurate maintenance records and engineering logs.
- Assist with inspections and servicing of onboard equipment.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant maritime legislation and company safety standards.
- Work closely with the vessel crew to maintain high levels of vessel availability and reliability.
Qualifications and Requirements for the Night Shift Marine Engineer (CTV)
- Right to work in the UK.
- Previous experience working as a Marine Engineer or in a similar engineering role onboard vessels.
- AEC 1 & AEC 2 as a minimum requirement, although higher engineering qualifications (such as MEOL, EOOW or equivalent) are also welcomed.
- All STCW certificates to be in date, including a valid ENG1 medical.
- Good mechanical knowledge with basic electrical fault-finding ability.
- Experience working on Volvo, Scania or MAN marine engines would be highly advantageous.
- Willingness to work a 3 on / 3 off permanent night shift rotation.
Salary
- £182.50 per day during the first 6-month probation (£33,215 per annum).
- £200.00 per day upon successful completion of probation (£36,400 per annum).
