Customer Support Engineer

We are seeking a Customer Support Engineer in Northamptonshire to provide technical support to customers across the installation, maintenance and operation of specialist technical systems.
This is an excellent opportunity for an engineer with a strong technical and customer-facing background to work across UK and worldwide projects, supporting customers, site activities, technical troubleshooting, demonstrations and training.

Key Responsibilities of a Customer Support Engineer

Provide technical support to customers across the installation, operation and maintenance of specialist technical systems.

Carry out site surveys across UK and worldwide locations, including fixed, mobile and ship-based sites.

Install and support the commissioning of specialist communication and monitoring systems.

Support the installation and maintenance of air-to-ground communication links worldwide.

Carry out 2nd line repairs and technical fault finding within the factory workshop.

Support Factory Acceptance Testing both in the UK and worldwide.

Attend customer sites to provide maintenance and technical support.

Support customer trials and assist with the preparation of trial plans.

Provide technical support during customer demonstrations.

Produce technical documentation, including system manuals and white papers.

Develop and deliver technical training courses covering specialist equipment.

Capture customer technical requirements and provide technical input to support the Sales team.

Coordinate installation materials, shipping and customs documentation where required.
Requirements of a Customer Support Engineer:

Experience in a technical customer support, field service, engineering or similar role.

Experience supporting complex technical systems, ideally within communications, defence or a related industry.

Strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills, with the ability to diagnose and resolve technical issues.

Experience with installation, maintenance, testing or commissioning of technical equipment.

Excellent communication and customer-facing skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with customers.

Ability to explain technical information clearly to a range of audiences.

Strong organisational and time-management skills, with the ability to manage multiple customer requirements.

Experience producing technical documentation, reports or system manuals would be beneficial.

Experience delivering technical training would be advantageous.

High attention to detail and a strong understanding of working within regulated or compliance-driven environments.

Willingness and ability to travel extensively across the UK and internationally.
