I am partnering with an established consumer brand based in North Yorkshire, who are looking for a Customs Manager to work in a brand new function for the business.
This is a key role responsible for managing and developing the Group's customs activity across their international supply chain. You will take ownership of customs compliance, import and export processes, holding relationships with key logistics partners, ensuring products move efficiently and compliantly across international markets.
Hybrid role with 3 days in the office
The Role
As Customs Manager, you will be responsible for:
Managing the end-to-end customs operation across the Group.
Overseeing import and export customs processes and ensuring full regulatory compliance.
Managing relationships with customs brokers, freight forwarders and other external partners.
Ensuring accurate commodity codes, country of origin, customs valuations and supporting documentation.
Monitoring duty and tax exposure and identifying opportunities to improve the efficiency and cost-effectiveness of international trade.
Keeping the business up to date with changes to international customs legislation.
Supporting the continued development of international trading and distribution processes.
Working closely with Supply Chain, Finance, Buying, Warehousing and other key stakeholders.
Reviewing and improving customs processes, controls and reporting.
Supporting customs audits and ensuring appropriate records and documentation are maintained.
Providing guidance and expertise across the wider business on customs and international trade matters.
About You
We're looking for an experienced customs professional who combines strong technical knowledge with a commercial and practical approach.
You'll ideally have:
MUST HAVE Proven experience in a Customs, Import/Export or International Trade management role.
Strong knowledge of UK import and export regulations.
Experience working with customs brokers and freight forwarders.
A good understanding of commodity classification, rules of origin, duty and customs valuation.
Experience within fashion/homeware, retail, consumer goods or another international product-led environment.
Strong attention to detail and a proactive approach to compliance.
Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
The confidence to work autonomously and influence stakeholders across the business.
Strong Excel and reporting capability.
Experience managing or improving customs processes across multiple international markets.
