Building Surveyor (Damp & Mould) – Overview

An experienced Building Surveyor is required to support a leading social housing provider in delivering high quality inspection, diagnostic and remedial services across a residential property portfolio. This is an excellent opportunity for a surveyor with strong expertise in damp, mould, condensation and building pathology to play a key role in improving residents' living conditions and ensuring homes remain safe, compliant and well maintained.

Building Surveyor (Damp & Mould) – Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out detailed property inspections relating to damp, mould and condensation issues.
  • Diagnose building defects and identify root causes.
  • Produce clear technical reports, recommendations and specifications of work.
  • Oversee remedial works from inception through to completion.
  • Monitor contractor performance and ensure works are delivered to a high standard.
  • Maintain accurate records and case management documentation.
  • Liaise directly with residents, providing clear communication throughout the process.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant housing standards, legislation and regulations.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives and long term property performance strategies.

Building Surveyor (Damp & Mould) – Applicant Essentials

Essential

  • Demonstrable experience as a Building Surveyor within a social housing environment.
  • Strong knowledge of damp, mould, condensation and building defect diagnosis.
  • Experience preparing specifications, schedules of work and technical reports.
  • Proven contractor management and project delivery experience.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Full UK driving licence and ability to attend site regularly.

Desirable

  • Degree qualification in Building Surveying or a related discipline.
  • Professional membership such as RICS or working towards chartered status.
  • Experience managing disrepair cases.
  • Knowledge of housing compliance, building safety and asset management principles.
