Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced Data Business Analyst to support a Housing function within a public sector environment. This role will combine data analysis, business analysis and systems thinking to improve data quality, reporting capability and evidence-based decision-making.

The successful candidate will work across business, technology and operational teams to analyse complex datasets, identify opportunities for improvement and deliver actionable insights that enhance service delivery, asset management and investment planning.

Responsibilities

The role will involve analysing housing and asset data to support strategic planning, identifying data quality issues and improving processes across services. You will develop reporting solutions, dashboards, performance metrics and data insights to support operational and strategic decisions.

You will work closely with Housing, IT and wider stakeholders to improve systems, data usage and business processes while supporting digital transformation and continuous improvement initiatives.

The role will also require gathering and documenting business requirements, creating process maps, producing project documentation and ensuring compliance with GDPR, data governance and information security standards.

You will liaise with technical teams and system providers to support system improvements, upgrades and issue resolution, ensuring data solutions align with business needs.

Essential Skills & Experience

The successful candidate will have strong experience in data analysis and business analysis, with a proven ability to work with large and complex datasets. Experience using tools such as SQL, Python, R or similar analytical technologies is required.

You should be able to translate technical data findings into clear recommendations for non-technical stakeholders and have experience delivering data-driven change, transformation or service improvement initiatives.

Strong communication and stakeholder management skills are essential, with the ability to collaborate effectively across technical and business teams.

Desirable Experience

Experience within housing, asset management or local government environments would be advantageous. Knowledge of housing regulations, Building Safety, Decent Homes Standards, data governance frameworks, GDS principles or NoSQL technologies such as MongoDB would also be beneficial.
