Data Engineer – Azure / Microsoft Fabric
Salary: Up to £55,000 DOE
Location: Remote-first (UK) - one day a month required in the Northwest office
An opportunity for a Data Engineer to join an established business in the green energy sector, helping develop the data infrastructure that supports its operations and long-term sustainability goals.
The business has invested in Microsoft Fabric and is now focused on strengthening its Data Engineering capabilities, improving data architecture and establishing a more scalable and reliable platform.
This is an opportunity to join at an important stage of that journey, working alongside an experienced Microsoft Fabric consultant to implement improvements, establish best practices and develop the platform for the future.
You'll gain exposure to architectural decisions, data governance and platform optimisation, while developing your technical expertise and gradually taking greater ownership of the environment.
The role is remote-first, with one day a month required at the Preston office for meetings and collaboration.
About You
This opportunity would suit a Data Engineer with around two or more years of commercial experience who has developed strong technical foundations and is looking to take the next step in their career.
You'll ideally bring:
- Commercial experience in a dedicated Data Engineering role.
- Strong SQL and Python skills.
- Experience with Azure Data Engineering technologies or Microsoft Fabric.
- A good understanding of data pipelines, data warehousing and core Data Engineering principles.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to communicate technical ideas clearly.
- A collaborative approach, curiosity and a genuine desire to learn.
Previous Microsoft Fabric experience isn't essential. Candidates with experience across Azure Data Engineering technologies and a solid understanding of engineering fundamentals will also be considered.
An interest in green energy, sustainability and the wider transition towards cleaner energy would be particularly beneficial.
Why Consider This Opportunity?
Rather than joining a fully established Data Engineering function, you'll have the opportunity to contribute to how the platform develops and how the team approaches Data Engineering.
You'll benefit from:
- Direct mentoring from an experienced Microsoft Fabric consultant.
- Exposure to data architecture, platform optimisation and governance.
- The opportunity to develop your skills across modern Microsoft data technologies.
- Increasing technical ownership and long-term career development.
- The chance to contribute to a business operating in the green energy sector.
For a Data Engineer who enjoys solving problems, learning new technologies and understanding the bigger picture behind their work, this offers the opportunity to make a genuine contribution while continuing to develop their career.
