DC Tooling Engineer

Osprey Engineering Solutions

About the Role
Our client, a well-established name in industrial engineering and field services, is looking for a Data Centre (DC) Tooling Engineer to manage, maintain, and support the tools, test equipment, and calibration processes used by field engineers across data centre client sites. This is a field-based role requiring travel between sites to ensure engineers have fully compliant, safe, and calibrated tooling to carry out planned and reactive maintenance activities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the inventory, condition, and calibration status of tools and test equipment used across DC sites
  • Coordinate calibration schedules with approved suppliers and ensure certificates are logged and up to date
  • Conduct routine inspections and audits of tooling to ensure compliance with health & safety and quality standards
  • Support field engineers with the correct tools/equipment for planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive works
  • Identify and resolve tooling faults, arranging repair, replacement, or decommissioning as required
  • Maintain accurate records of tooling assets, calibration certificates, and audit trails (e.g. via CMMS or asset management systems)
  • Liaise with procurement to source new tools/equipment and manage stock levels
  • Ensure all tooling meets client-specific data centre compliance requirements (e.g. ESD-safe tools, torque-controlled equipment)
  • Travel to client sites across the UK to deliver tooling audits, training, and support
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives around tooling standards and processes

Skills & Experience Required

  • Proven experience in a tooling, calibration, or asset management role — ideally within data centres, facilities management, or critical infrastructure environments
  • Working knowledge of calibration processes and certification requirements
  • Familiarity with mechanical and electrical hand tools, torque wrenches, and test equipment
  • Strong organisational skills with high attention to detail and record-keeping accuracy
  • Comfortable working independently and travelling regularly between sites
  • Health & safety awareness, ideally with relevant certifications (e.g. IOSH, NEBOSH)
  • Full UK driving licence required
  • Experience with CMMS or asset management software is advantageous
