Logistics Manager Location: Stockton-on-Tees,
Contract Type: Full-Time, Permanent
Working Pattern: 5 Days Over 7 (including weekends and bank holidays as required)
Reports To: Business Owners
Role Overview We are seeking an experienced and motivated Logistics Manager to lead the day-to-day operations of our busy distribution centre in Stockton-on-Tees. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the safe, efficient, and cost-effective management of all transport, and distribution activities while maintaining exceptional service standards for key customers, including major retail and e-commerce partner The Logistics Manager will drive operational excellence, manage on road performance, lead and develop teams, and ensure all service level agreements (SLAs) are achieved while maintaining full compliance with company policies and industry regulations.
Key Responsibilities Operational Management
- Oversee the daily running of the fleet, ensuring efficient distribution operations.
- Manage on road logistics to meet customer delivery requirements.
- Ensure all deliveries are completed on time and in full, meeting agreed service levels.
- Monitor team / individual performance through KPIs and implement continuous improvement initiatives.
- Manage fleet resources effectively to maximise productivity and minimise operational costs.
- Lead, motivate, and develop a team of delivery associates
- Conduct regular performance reviews and coaching sessions.
- Promote a positive working culture focused on safety, accountability, and customer service.
- Manage staffing levels to meet operational demands, including shift planning and holiday cover.
- Build and maintain strong working relationships with key customers,
- Ensure customer expectations and contractual requirements are consistently achieved.
- Investigate and resolve service issues promptly and professionally.
- liaise with stake holders to ensure customer needs are fulfilled
- Ensure full compliance with Health & Safety legislation and company procedures.
- Promote a culture of safety across all areas of the business
- Conduct regular safety audits and accident investigations.
- Ensure compliance with transport regulations, working time directives, and operator licence requirements where applicable.
Essential Skills & Experience
- Proven experience in a Logistics Manager, Distribution Manager, role.
- Experience managing high-volume distribution operations.
- Strong knowledge of warehouse and transport operations.
- Experience working with large-scale retail or e-commerce customers is highly desirable.
- Excellent leadership and people management skills.
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
- Sound understanding of Health & Safety regulations and compliance requirements.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and logistics software
