Deputy Headteacher in Birmingham, West Midlands

Are you an education expert? We are currently seeking to represent an experienced Deputy Headteacher for a permanent senior leadership job based in an alternative provision in Birmingham, West Midlands (B66). If you are a SEND specialist who is available from October 2026 or January 2027, we would be keen to speak with you.

If you are an experienced Deputy Headteacher or an Assistant Headteacher seeking a school leadership opportunity who has worked with pupils with SEND across either primary or secondary phases this role may be for you. We are currently supporting an established alternative provision based in Birmingham, West Midlands. The site has a long-standing Headteacher is place who truly puts the needs of their pupils first. This role is offered on a full-time, permanent basis and typical working hours are 8.30am to 4.30pm to allow for after school briefings. The site is a small, well-established provision with an Ofsted ‘Good’ rating. Children within this school come from a wide range of backgrounds, but all have Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs (SEMH). Many will also have other Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) such as Autism, ADHD, and communication difficulties. A primary curriculum background would be beneficial in the role.

This site is part of a national trust who are focussed on supporting children with complex behaviours and needs. Their pupils have experienced trauma and adverse childhood experiences, and they work closely with them to develop self-belief to become effective learners. We focus on introducing senior leaders with a therapeutic style. If you are of a similar mindset and ethos, we would be very happy to discuss the role in more detail.

A relevant UK based teaching/leadership qualification.

Substantial experience working within a SEND or primary education setting.

Annual salary: £56,000 up to £58,000
