Deputy Home Manager (Clinical)

We are seeking an experienced and dedicated Deputy Manager (Clinical) to support the Home Manager in the overall management of a high-quality care service.

The successful candidate will provide strong clinical leadership to the nursing and care teams, ensuring residents receive safe, effective and compassionate care that promotes dignity, choice, independence and wellbeing.

You will play a key role in maintaining clinical governance, CQC compliance and high standards of care, while supporting the day-to-day running of the service and taking responsibility in the Home Manager's absence.



Key Responsibilities

  • Support the Home Manager with the overall day-to-day management of the service.
  • Provide clinical leadership, guidance and support to nursing and care teams.
  • Ensure care delivery meets CQC requirements, legislation and company policies.
  • Take responsibility for the service in the Home Manager's absence.
  • Lead and monitor clinical governance processes and quality improvement.
  • Conduct regular clinical audits and implement appropriate action plans.
  • Ensure care plans and risk assessments are accurate, up to date and reflective of residents' changing needs.
  • Oversee medication management and ensure safe practices are consistently followed.
  • Ensure accurate clinical documentation and record keeping.
  • Support with pre-admission assessments and ongoing assessments of residents' needs.
  • Identify and respond appropriately to safeguarding concerns and follow relevant referral pathways.
  • Build effective relationships with residents, relatives, healthcare professionals and external agencies.
  • Mentor, supervise and develop nurses and care staff, promoting high standards of practice.
  • Ensure residents and their families are actively involved in the development and review of their care.
  • Promote a culture of person-centred care, dignity, choice and continuous improvement.


About You

  • Previous experience as a Deputy Manager within a care home.
  • NMC Registered Nurse - essential.
  • Strong working knowledge of CQC standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Strong clinical knowledge and understanding of effective care governance.
  • Excellent leadership and communication skills.
  • Ability to motivate, support and develop nursing and care teams.
  • Confident working with healthcare professionals, families and external agencies.
  • Good understanding of safeguarding and risk management.
  • A proactive approach to identifying and implementing improvements.
  • Passionate about delivering high-quality, person-centred care.
  • Ability to take ownership and responsibility for the service when required.
