Deputy Manager in Middleton, Borough of Rochdale

Central Recruitment is working with one of the UK's largest not-for-profit housing associations. Their work includes providing people with a range of support and services to help them overcome barriers associated with age, homelessness, disability or health.

Our client is currently recruiting for a Deputy Manager to work at a CQC registered service in the Middleton area. The service provides independent living for people aged 55 and over who also need care and support.

• 37.5 hours per week
• Flexibility is required to participate in an on-call and weekend rota
• Temporary: approx. 6 months
• £21.33 per hour (£19.03 per hour, with £2.30 holiday pay)

Key responsibilities:

• Lead, motivate and support a team to deliver high-quality, person-centred care services
• Hold regular one-to-one sessions to reflect on achievements, performance and individual wellbeing
• Ensure all care plans, risk assessments and customer records are accurate and up to date
• Undertake six-monthly performance reviews to support and guide colleagues to fulfil their potential
• Manage and plan the delivery of care within the service in line with CQC and contractual requirements
• Support the setting and management of service budgets, monitor expenditure through the finance system and report any budget variances to the budget holder
• Implement and monitor policies, procedures and quality standards to ensure safe and effective service delivery
• Ensure robust medication management procedures are followed in accordance with national guidelines
• Maintain compliance with health and safety legislation, safeguarding requirements and regulatory obligations
• Build and maintain positive relationships with customers, families, commissioners and partner agencies
• Support the recruitment, onboarding and development of permanent, relief and agency staff
• Support housing management functions, including coordinating repairs and maintenance
• Advocate for customers and support positive outcomes that enhance independence and wellbeing

Further requirements:

• Experience working within a CQC-registered supported living or extra care service
• Previous leadership or supervisory experience within health and social care
• Experience reviewing, monitoring and evaluating outcomes to support the effective delivery of a CQC-registered service
• Ability to motivate, coach and develop teams, supporting colleagues to deliver high-quality care
• Strong communication and listening skills, with the ability to encourage feedback, promote reflection and empower others
• Experience producing reports, statutory submissions and other communications, with the ability to analyse key outcomes data and identify opportunities for service improvement
• Strong organisational skills, with the ability to prioritise workloads and manage competing demands
• Competent IT skills, including experience updating care plans, maintaining electronic records and producing reports
• A resilient, adaptable and customer-focused approach

In order to register with Central Recruitment Services for temporary agency work, candidates must meet the following criteria:

• Current valid right to work in the UK
• Minimum 12 months’ of paid experience in a front line social care role within the last 3 years* (unless recruitment criteria states otherwise)
• A fully enhanced DBS either registered on the DBS update service or issued within the last 12 months, or willingness to apply for one through Central (at a cost of £60)
• Employment or education history to cover the last 5 years which can be verified through the referencing process
