Are you an experienced leader ready to take the next step in residential childcare? We're looking for a Deputy Manager to help lead our team, supporting and guiding staff to deliver outstanding, child-centred care to children and young people.
About the Role
As Deputy Manager, you'll play a pivotal role in supporting the Registered Manager to run the home to the highest standards, deputising in their absence. You'll lead and mentor Team Leaders and Residential Support Workers, help embed the home's culture, and ensure compliance with Ofsted regulations and organisational policies.

What You'll Be Doing
- Supporting the Registered Manager in leading the home, deputising in their absence
- Mentoring, guiding and supervising Team Leaders and staff to achieve high standards
- Conducting regular supervisions, appraisals and performance reviews
- Assisting with recruitment, induction and training of staff
- Planning and managing staff rotas to maintain safe staffing levels
- Ensuring high-quality, child-centred care is delivered consistently across the home
- Promoting and maintaining a strong safeguarding culture
- Ensuring care plans, risk assessments and behaviour strategies are followed consistently
- Ensuring the home meets regulatory requirements, including Ofsted standards
- Supporting audits, quality monitoring, health and safety, and operational planning
- Building positive relationships with families, social workers and other professionals
What We're Looking For
Essential:
- Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare or equivalent
- Enhanced DBS check valid for working with children and young people
- Genuine motivation to make a difference in children's lives
- Calm, reflective and resilient under pressure
- Strong leadership, mentoring and supervisory skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Commitment to safeguarding and promoting children's welfare
- Ability to manage competing priorities and support a high-performing team
Desirable:
- Level 5 leadership/management qualification in residential childcare
- Experience as a Team Leader or Deputy Manager
- Experience supervising or mentoring staff
- Experience working within a regulated residential care environment
- Experience supporting children with complex needs or challenging behaviours
- Budgeting or operational management experience
- Full UK driving licence
