About the Role

An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced Deputy Production Manager to join a well-established manufacturing business in Enfield.

Reporting to the Head of Production, you will play a pivotal role in supporting the day-to-day running of the manufacturing operation, ensuring production targets, quality standards and delivery schedules are achieved. You will work closely with Production, Sales, Quality, Warehouse and Maintenance teams, helping to drive efficiencies, improve output and support the continued growth of the business.

This is a hands-on leadership role that would suit an experienced manufacturing professional with strong people management skills and a proven track record within a production environment. An engineering background is highly desirable, particularly within Electrical or Electronic Engineering.



Key Responsibilities

  • Support the Head of Production in the safe, efficient and cost-effective operation of the manufacturing facility.
  • Plan and coordinate production activities to ensure customer orders are delivered on time.
  • Monitor production output, lead times and operational performance against targets.
  • Lead production meetings and provide updates on order progress and delivery schedules.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to improve productivity, quality and efficiency.
  • Support the management of approximately 55 employees through foremen and supervisory teams.
  • Assist with recruitment, induction, training plans and skills development across the workforce.
  • Monitor attendance levels and support workforce planning to maximise operational performance.
  • Work closely with the maintenance team to ensure machinery reliability and minimise downtime.
  • Liaise with suppliers and contractors regarding equipment servicing, maintenance and upgrades.
  • Ensure compliance with company procedures, health & safety standards and quality requirements.


About You

  • Previous experience in a manufacturing or production environment.
  • Proven leadership and people management experience.
  • Strong organisational, planning and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience managing production schedules, KPIs and delivery performance.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to work effectively across multiple departments.
  • Strong IT skills, including Microsoft Office and Excel.
  • A proactive, hands-on approach and willingness to get involved in operational activities when required.


Desirable

  • Engineering Degree, HNC or HND qualification.
  • Electrical or Electronic Engineering background.
  • Experience supporting maintenance functions within a manufacturing environment.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing machinery, automated equipment and production planning systems.
