Design Coordinator

My client is a leading specialist in the delivery of build-to-rent properties, with an expanding UK-wide portfolio and a strong reputation for creating high-quality rental communities.

With 15 years' proven experience, the company has successfully delivered multiple regeneration schemes that have transformed locations into thriving, well-connected neighbourhoods. Its portfolio spans new-build developments, innovative refurbishment projects, single-family rental homes and modern apartments, reflecting a clear commitment to quality, sustainability and long-term community value.

The company now has an exciting opportunity for a Design Coordinator to join its Development team on a 12-month fixed-term contract, providing maternity cover and contributing to a varied portfolio of high-quality residential projects.

Reporting to the head of technical you will be responsible for:

  • Support the Development Team with the design management/coordination of projects from concept through to completion.
  • Assist with the Technical Due Diligence process on Forward Funded opportunities.
  • Review and comment on drawings and specifications from all Design Team members and relevant subcontractors to arrive at high quality, robust, and economical designs.
  • Engage with all departments (Resident Service, Lettings, Maintenance, Estates etc.) to ensure that design briefs meet business requirements.
  • Support the wider business with any design or technical workstreams
  • Assist with EPC enhancement programme on refurbishment projects and portfolio acquisitions.
  • Assist with the bid process for pipeline opportunities.
  • Organise and chair Design Team Meetings and produce meeting minutes.
  • Assist with the document control and organisation of design information.
  • Assist with the discharge of Planning, Building Control, and Building Warranty conditions.
  • Undertake site visits and attend Site Progress Meetings.
  • Manage consultant Appointments and supporting documentation including Fee Proposals, Scope of Services, Design Responsibility Matrices, and Information Release Schedules.
  • Undertake research to enable the company to remain up to date with design standards and regulations.
  • Assist with the evolution of the company Standard Specification and brand standards.
  • Assist with the company's journey to net zero through sustainable design.

Skills and experienced required: Qualification:

  • Undergraduate degree or equivalent in a relevant field - e.g. Architecture, Architectural Technology, Engineering
  • Experience in housebuilding from a developer's perspective
  • Strong understanding of technical requirements in the housebuilding industry including NDSS, Building Regulations, environmental performance criteria, and the principles of sustainable design and the associated technologies
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills
  • Experience across RIBA Work Stages 1-7
  • CAD / BIM skills an advantage
  • Personal Attributes: Delivery focused, Attention to detail, effective team worker, strong organisational and time management abilities.

The company are offering a competitive basic salary (dependant on experience), hybrid working options, with some travel to sites (business mileage to be paid), 25 day holidays, life insurance and healthcare. Your working hours will be Monday to Friday 8.00am to 5.00pm (times are flexible).
