Design Engineer

Elevation Recruitment Group are working with a leading engineering and manufacturing business to recruit a Design Engineer.

This is an excellent opportunity to join an established engineering team, taking ownership of the design and development of bespoke engineered products from initial concept through to project handover. The role will suit an experienced Design Engineer with a strong background in air handling units (AHUs), fabrication and manufacturing environments, who enjoys working on technically challenging projects and collaborating across multiple engineering disciplines.

You will play a key role in transforming customer requirements and sales concepts into fully engineered solutions, producing detailed design documentation, BOMs and manufacturing drawings to support successful project delivery.

• Develop and deliver engineering designs to agreed specifications, quality standards and project deadlines.
• Produce detailed design solutions from initial enquiry through to project handover.
• Generate costings, bills of materials (BOMs), general arrangement drawings and detailed fabrication drawings.
• Review customer specifications and ensure full compliance with technical and contractual requirements.
• Work closely with project, production and sales teams to ensure seamless project delivery.
• Collaborate with multi-disciplinary engineering teams including mechanical, building services, refrigeration, acoustic and controls specialists.
• Support the development of new products and technologies through ongoing R&D activities.
• Provide technical guidance and mentoring to engineers, technicians and wider business functions.
• Liaise with suppliers and customers to resolve technical queries and optimise design solutions.
• Identify and implement value engineering opportunities to improve product performance and commercial outcomes.
• Attend client meetings and site surveys, providing technical expertise and support.
• Maintain accurate drawing registers, design records and engineering documentation.
• Ensure designs comply with relevant industry standards, legislation, ISO9001 quality requirements and CDM regulations.
• Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives, engineering processes and knowledge-sharing activities.
• Support internal and external stakeholders with technical training and product knowledge.

We are keen to speak with candidates who possess:

• Proven experience in the design and development of air handling units (AHUs).
• Strong knowledge of fault-finding, diagnostics and performance improvement within AHU systems.
• Experience working within a fabrication or manufacturing environment.
• A solid understanding of production, assembly and manufacturing processes.
• The ability to produce detailed engineering drawings and technical documentation.
• Strong commercial awareness and the ability to balance technical and business objectives.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
• A proactive, organised approach with strong time management capabilities.
• Experience working to ISO9001 quality standards and CDM regulations.
• The ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced engineering environment.
