Building Services Design Engineer – Aviation

Location: Stansted
Salary: Up to £60,000

An excellent opportunity has arisen for a Building Services Design Engineer to join one of the UK’s largest and most respected infrastructure and construction businesses.

Based in Stansted (2-3 days per week), you’ll support the design and delivery of mechanical, electrical and public health systems across technically challenging aviation projects. The role of the Design Engineer

The Design Engineer will be working alongside the Design Manager and wider project teams, your responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting site surveys, inspections and technical assessments
  • Developing coordinated mechanical, electrical and public health designs
  • Producing drawings, schematics, calculations, specifications and equipment schedules
  • Reviewing subcontractor designs, calculations and technical submissions
  • Coordinating with architectural, structural and specialist design teams
  • Ensuring designs are compliant, practical, buildable and commercially viable
  • Supporting tendering, procurement, construction and commissioning activities
  • Managing design documentation, change control and quality processes
  • Promoting BIM and other digital engineering tools
  • Maintaining compliance with CDM Regulations, health and safety legislation and relevant industry standards

About you

As the Design Engineer, you’ll ideally have experience within building services design, covering one or more of the following areas:

  • Electrical power, lighting and small power
  • Mechanical, HVAC and ventilation systems
  • Public health, water services and drainage

Experience within aviation, airports, transport, infrastructure or another complex operational environment would be particularly beneficial. You should be organised, technically capable and comfortable working with clients, consultants, subcontractors and multidisciplinary delivery teams.
