Design Manager in Maidenhead, Berkshire

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Design Manager to take responsibility for the design delivery of non-infrastructure wastewater projects across the Severn Trent Water AMP8 Framework.

Working across multidisciplinary wastewater schemes, you'll manage the design process from scope and programme through to technical assurance and delivery, coordinating closely with design, delivery, commercial and MEICA teams.

The role operates on a hybrid basis, with three days per week across site offices in Rugby, Finham and Netheridge, and two days working from home.

The Role

You'll be involved in:

• Managing design delivery across non-infrastructure wastewater projects
• Identifying design scope, requirements and key deliverables
• Reviewing and challenging design programmes
• Managing design deliverables and design change
• Coordinating multidisciplinary design and construction teams
• Leading design progress and coordination meetings
• Managing design reviews, technical assurance reviews and CDM reviews
• Leading buildability, carbon and DfMA workshops
• Challenging designs to achieve practical, carbon-efficient and commercially viable solutions
• Implementing and managing project BIM strategy
• Supporting the nominated Principal Designer
• Coordinating closely with Project Managers, Commercial Managers, design consultants, MEICA leads and supply-chain partners
• Supporting procurement decisions across individual work packages
• Maintaining design quality, governance and assurance throughout project delivery

What They're Looking For

• Previous Design Management experience within the water sector
• Strong experience specifically across non-infrastructure wastewater projects
• Background in Mechanical, Electrical, ICA or Civil Engineering
• HNC/HND or degree in a relevant engineering discipline
• Experience delivering multidisciplinary design and construction projects
• Good technical understanding of water and wastewater processes and assets
• Experience and knowledge of Sludge Treatment and THP
• Strong understanding of design delivery, procurement, management and quality assurance
• Knowledge of BIM to ISO 19650
• Working knowledge of the NEC4 suite of contracts
• Good understanding of CDM Regulations 2015
• Commercial and contractual awareness
• Strong programme preparation and management capabilities
• Good communication and multidisciplinary collaboration skills
• Ideally progressing towards Chartered professional status
• Full driving licence

Experience across sludge treatment and Thermal Hydrolysis Process (THP) is particularly important for this requirement.
