I’m recruiting a Senior-Level Design Coordinator on behalf of a leading UK infrastructure contractor delivering major energy, gas transmission and distribution projects.
This role will initially support a major upgrade to an operational UK gas terminal. The project is predominantly mechanical, with additional EC&I scope, and is currently entering an immediate design review phase ahead of construction beginning in June 2027.
You will coordinate the delivery of engineering design information, manage external design partners and ensure multidisciplinary designs are fully integrated, issued on programme and aligned with the project requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate multidisciplinary design activities.
- Manage design programmes and deliverables.
- Manage change downstream to designers and upwards to clients.
- Manage and coordinate external design consultants.
- Chair design coordination meetings.
- Ensure design reviews are completed on time.
- Maintain design trackers and oversee document control.
- Liaise with clients, consultants, contractors and internal project teams.
- Coordinate responses to technical queries.
- Manage design changes and revisions.
- Support project planning and procurement activities.
- Ensure compliance with company design management procedures.
- Resolve design clashes and constructability issues.
- Support project handover and as-built documentation.
Experience Required
- Degree in an engineering or related discipline.
- Engineering or construction background.
- Experience coordinating multidisciplinary design teams.
- Strong Oil & Gas or gas infrastructure project experience.
- Experience managing external engineering designers and consultants.
- Understanding of mechanical engineering design, ideally with some exposure to EC&I.
- Experience with gas industry standards and GDN specifications.
- Knowledge of IGEM standards.
- Knowledge of G17 and/or G35 specifications.
- Knowledge of BIM and common data environments.
- Understanding of the full project lifecycle and design management.
- Strong organisational and communication skills.
- Project delivery experience would be preferable.
This is an excellent opportunity to join a growing Energy Business, initially supporting a major gas terminal upgrade before contributing to a wider portfolio of AGI, pipeline, power and low-carbon energy projects.
Please note: If you are a contractor and interested in this position, please still apply as we can consider contractors for this position, however, the preference is permanent hires.
