Design Manager – Infrastructure Projects

We are recruiting for an experienced Design Manager to oversee multi-disciplinary engineering teams delivering major infrastructure projects across the UK.

This is a long-term leadership role within a well-established engineering and delivery environment, where design, construction, and commissioning are closely integrated. You will be involved in projects from early concept through to site delivery, supporting schemes that are critical to environmental resilience, decarbonisation, and the modernisation of national infrastructure.

You will oversee the delivery of high-quality, safe and buildable engineering solutions across a diverse portfolio including water and wastewater treatment upgrades, flood risk and resilience schemes, clean and waste infrastructure, energy infrastructure, and battery energy storage systems (BESS).

Key Responsibilities

• Lead multi-disciplinary engineering design teams
• Deliver detailed design solutions for construction
• Ensure compliance with quality, cost and programme targets
• Drive technical excellence and value engineering
• Manage design risk and stakeholder coordination
• Support client engagement and project delivery

Requirements

• Degree in Engineering
• Chartered/ Incorporated Engineer status or equivalent experience
• Experience in infrastructure or utilities design
• Knowledge of CDM 2015 responsibilities
• Strong leadership and coordination skills
• Willingness to travel to sites
