DESIGN MANAGER

Location: London & South East (Office Based)

Our client, a leading construction contractor, is seeking an experienced Design Manager to join their growing team and support the successful delivery of a diverse portfolio of projects.

This is an excellent opportunity for a proactive and commercially aware Design Manager looking to take ownership of the design process from pre-construction through to project completion.

The Role

As Design Manager, you will be responsible for coordinating and managing the design process, ensuring projects are delivered safely, compliantly, and in line with programme requirements. You will work closely with consultants, subcontractors, and internal project teams to drive design development and resolve technical challenges.

Responsibilities

• Manage the design process from tender through to project completion.
• Coordinate consultants and specialist subcontractors.
• Lead design meetings and manage technical queries.
• Ensure designs are compliant, buildable, and aligned with client requirements.
• Support Building Safety Act compliance and regulatory submissions.
• Collaborate with commercial and operational teams to manage project risks.
• Maintain accurate design records and project documentation.

Requirements

• Previous experience as a Design Manager within a main contractor environment.
• Strong understanding of construction design and project delivery.
• Knowledge of the Building Safety Act and current regulations.
• Experience managing multidisciplinary design teams.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Construction-related qualification or equivalent experience.
• Experience using BIM and Common Data Environments would be advantageous.
