We're working with an established manufacturer within the commercial ventilation and HVAC industry, who are looking to recruit a Design Office Manager for their head office.

This is a fantastic opportunity to take ownership of a busy design and programming function, leading a team of design engineers, design specialists and programming operatives. You'll play a key role in driving performance, improving processes and ensuring projects are delivered to the highest standards.

The Role

As Design Office Manager, you'll be responsible for the day-to-day management and development of the design team, ensuring projects are delivered efficiently, accurately and in line with customer requirements.

You'll work closely with colleagues across design, programming, production and senior management, helping to improve operational performance, develop team capabilities and support the continued growth of the business.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and manage the day-to-day activities of the design and programming teams.

  
  
  

• Ensure projects are delivered on time, meeting quality standards and customer specifications.

  
  
  

• Drive continuous improvement initiatives to improve productivity and streamline processes.

  
  
  

• Manage team performance, resource planning and succession planning.

  
  
  

• Identify skills gaps and support training and development across the team.

  
  
  

• Conduct design reviews, resolving technical issues and ensuring actions are completed.

  
  
  

• Lead value engineering initiatives to improve quality and cost efficiency.

  
  
  

• Work collaboratively with production and other departments to ensure smooth project delivery.

  
  
  

• Provide technical support and assist with complex design challenges.

  
  
  

• Promote a positive team culture focused on innovation, collaboration and continuous improvement.

  
  
  

About You

We're keen to speak with individuals who have experience managing or leading a design function within a manufacturing or engineering environment.

You'll ideally bring:

• Previous experience in a Design Manager, Design Office Manager, Design Team Leader or similar position.

  
  
  

• Experience managing and developing technical teams.

  
  
  

• A background in engineering, manufacturing or a related technical environment.

  
  
  

• Strong organisational and project management skills.

  
  
  

• The ability to drive performance, improve processes and manage competing priorities.

  
  
  

• Excellent communication skills, with the confidence to work across multiple departments.

  
  
  

• A proactive approach to problem-solving and continuous improvement.
