Rotherwood Education are currently recruiting for a dedicated and enthusiastic Design Technology Teacher to join a welcoming and supportive secondary school in the Burnley area.
The role is full-time, Monday to Friday, and is due to start in September 2026. The position is initially expected to run until October half term, although it is likely to continue until Christmas.

Daily Rate: £168.80 – £215.68 per day (dependant on experience)
About the Role:
- Teach Design Technology across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4.
- Deliver engaging and practical lessons across a broad range of DT specialisms, including Engineering and Food.
- Plan, prepare and assess learning in line with the curriculum to support pupil progress and attainment.
- Differentiate lessons to meet the needs of students with varying abilities and learning styles.
- Create a positive, inclusive and well-managed classroom environment that supports learning and participation.
- Monitor and assess pupil progress, providing clear feedback to support development.
- Maintain high expectations for behaviour, achievement and engagement.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues and support staff to contribute to the wider success of the department and school.
- Follow school policies and procedures, including those relating to safeguarding and behaviour.
The Ideal Candidate Will:
- Hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS), PGCE, or an equivalent teaching qualification.
- Have experience teaching Design Technology at KS3 and KS4.
- Be confident delivering a range of DT subjects, including Engineering and Food.
- Have strong classroom management and communication skills.
- Be able to plan and deliver engaging, practical and theory-based lessons.
- Be committed to raising attainment and supporting students to achieve their full potential.
- Be committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
- Provide details of the latest two references, covering the last five years’ work history.
- Possess a current DBS check or be prepared to apply for one as part of your registration.
- Be willing to complete a face-to-face registration and satisfy several compliance checks.
