The Supply Register is proud to be working in partnership with Dixons City Academy, supporting the academy with high-quality staffing. We are now recruiting enthusiastic and committed Design Technology Teachers specialising in Resistant Materials to join our supply network.

This is an exciting opportunity for a passionate DT teacher to work within a supportive and ambitious school environment, inspiring students through practical, creative and engaging Design Technology lessons.

About the Role

As a Design Technology Teacher, you will play a key role in supporting teaching and learning across the secondary phase. Responsibilities include:

  • Teaching Design Technology with a focus on Resistant Materials

  • Planning and delivering engaging practical and theory-based lessons

  • Developing students' knowledge of materials, tools, processes and manufacturing techniques

  • Supporting students to design, manufacture and evaluate their own products

  • Creating and maintaining a safe, well-organised and purposeful workshop environment

  • Managing behaviour effectively and maintaining high expectations

  • Assessing student progress and providing constructive feedback

  • Working collaboratively with colleagues within the Design Technology department

Requirements
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or recognised teaching qualification

  • Strong subject knowledge and practical experience in Resistant Materials

  • Experience teaching Design Technology at secondary level

  • Confidence working in a workshop environment and using a range of tools, materials and equipment

  • Strong behaviour management and classroom management skills

  • Excellent communication and organisational abilities

  • A proactive, flexible and supportive approach

  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (essential)
