Tradewind Recruitment is currently seeking a Design & Technology Technician to join a successful secondary school in Manchester. The role will start as soon as possible and is a full-time, long-term position paying £105-£115 per day, depending on experience and relevant qualifications.
There is also the opportunity for the successful candidate to secure a permanent position, subject to a successful application and interview with the school.
To join us and be successful in this Design & Technology Technician role, you will need to:
Have practical or technical experience gained within education, manufacturing, engineering, design, woodwork or a similar setting
Be practical, proactive and highly organised
Be confident preparing materials, tools and equipment
Be able to work independently and make appropriate decisions
Have good communication and teamwork skills
Be comfortable working with secondary-aged pupils
Be willing to follow and implement health and safety procedures
Be subject to an Enhanced DBS Disclosure, Overseas Police Clearances where applicable and professional reference checks
Provide a CV containing a full employment and education history, with any employment breaks explained
Have the legal right to work in the UK
Previous experience working as a Design & Technology Technician or within a school workshop would be advantageous, although applicants with relevant transferable skills and technical experience are also encouraged to apply.
The role
Working alongside the Design & Technology teaching team, the successful candidate will help ensure that practical lessons run safely and effectively. Responsibilities will include:
Preparing, setting up and checking materials, tools and equipment
Supporting teaching staff and pupils during practical lessons
Maintaining a safe, clean and well-organised workshop environment
Ensuring equipment is operational and complies with health and safety requirements
Arranging maintenance and repairs where required
Managing the safe storage of equipment and monitoring stock levels
Completing practical, creative and administrative tasks
Supporting departmental activities, projects and school events
Contributing to pupils' progress and enjoyment of Design & Technology
