Despatch Operative in Birmingham, West Midlands

One Call Consultants are looking for a despatch operative to join our large automotive client based in Aston, Birmingham

Key Responsibilities & Duties

• Order Preparation: Processing crates, boxes, window assemblies and pallets, packing securely, and ID labelling products ready for despatch.
• Loading & Despatch: Loading pallets and goods onto vehicles where required using forklifts. Moving pallets and goods with pallet trucks into and out of locations.
• Inventory & Documentation: Maintaining accurate, up-to-date despatch paperwork, shipping notes, and inventory records, ability to use computers/spreadsheets.
• Communication: Coordinating with production, logistics, courier companies, or sales teams to ensure on-time delivery.
• Safety & Maintenance: Following all health and safety regulations, maintaining a clean workspace, and reporting any incidents.

Requirements & Skills

• Experience: Previous experience in a warehouse, production, or manufacturing environment is required. Experience in pallet movements and storage would be beneficial along with in date counterbalance training.
• Physical Stamina: Ability to perform manual handling, lifting, and standing for long periods.
• Technical Skills: Proficiency in using computer systems to track inventory and create shipping documents if required and trained to do so.
• Licensing: Forklift (Counterbalance) license preferred.
• Details & Speed: Good attention to detail with the ability to work efficiently and accurately to meet despatch deadlines. Common sense approach to working, ability to maintain a good work ethic and be part of a small but busy team.

Working Conditions

• This role involves working in an ambient despatch area in a manufacturing environment. May include some time outside. PPE is required – toe protection, safety glasses, hi vis.

The shift is a day shift Monday to Thursday 7.30 till 16.00 and Friday 7.30 till 12.30

This role is an ongoing temp to perm role for the right person
