Diagnostic Technician – Guildford – £45,000–£55,000 Basic Salary

Guildford-based independent garage | Monday–Friday | 7:30am–4:30pm

If you’re a proper technician who enjoys diagnosing problems, fixing cars and getting on with the job without someone breathing down your neck, read on.

We’re recruiting for an established independent garage in Guildford that does things the traditional way: good vehicles, good workmanship and people who know what they’re doing.

The owner is very much old school – which means you’ll get plenty of autonomy, straight talking and none of the corporate nonsense. If you know your way around a car, can find a fault without replacing half the vehicle first, and don’t mind a bit of banter, you’ll fit in nicely.

The Role

This is a genuinely varied technician role, covering everything from diagnostics and fault finding through to general mechanical work.

You’ll be responsible for:

• Diagnosing electrical and mechanical faults
• Using diagnostic equipment to identify problems accurately
• General servicing, repairs and mechanical work
• Tackling more involved diagnostic and fault-finding jobs
• Wet belt replacements and associated work
• Finding the actual problem rather than simply throwing parts at it
• Completing work to a high standard and taking pride in what you do

What We’re Looking For

We’re looking for an experienced Diagnostic Technician who:

• Is genuinely good at diagnostics and fault finding
• Is confident with all aspects of mechanical work
• Has solid hands-on wet belt experience
• Can think for themselves and work without constant supervision
• Takes pride in their workmanship
• Is reliable and gets on well with others
• Appreciates a bit of old-school banter and straight talking

You don’t need to be a fan of endless meetings, corporate buzzwords or team-building exercises involving blindfolds and spaghetti.

You just need to be good at fixing cars.

The Package

• £45,000–£55,000 depending on experience
• Monday to Friday, 7:30am–4:30pm
• 20 days holiday + bank holidays
• Christmas shutdown
• Local parking
