Inside IR35 – 11 month contract – 40 hour week
50/50 hybrid working from one of 4 locations (Aberdeen, Inverness, Glasgow, Perth)
Role Purpose
The Digital Business Change Manager is responsible for driving business readiness, user adoption, and successful change outcomes across SSEN Transmission's Digital portfolio, encompassing IT, Operational Technology (OT), and Cyber programmes.
Working across multiple strategic initiatives, the role will lead the design and delivery of integrated business change plans that enable the successful adoption of digital capabilities. The role ensures change activity is aligned across portfolios, programmes, and projects, providing a consistent, people-centred approach that maximises business value and realisation of benefits.
Operating within the Digital Business Change Framework, the role partners with business leaders, programme teams, HR, and delivery functions to embed sustainable change, develop organisational change capability, and ensure digital transformation is successfully adopted across the business.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the development and delivery of integrated business change strategies and plans across multiple digital programmes and projects.
- Create and communicate a compelling strategic change narrative that connects individual initiatives into a coherent portfolio story, demonstrating cumulative business value.
- Drive business readiness by ensuring impacted teams are prepared to adopt new processes, technologies, systems and ways of working.
- Champion user adoption, engagement and behavioural change to maximise utilisation and benefits realisation from digital investments.
- Work closely with programme managers, project managers, business leaders and delivery teams to embed change management throughout the project lifecycle.
- Partner with HR and business stakeholders where transformation impacts organisational design, roles, capability or operating models.
- Design and coordinate leader-led change interventions, ensuring consistent application of the Digital Business Change Framework.
- Identify change impacts, stakeholder needs, risks and dependencies across the portfolio, developing appropriate mitigation and engagement plans.
- Measure change effectiveness through adoption, readiness and engagement metrics, using insights to continuously improve outcomes.
- Contribute to the ongoing development of the Digital Business Change Framework, tools, templates and methodologies, enhancing organisational change capability across the Digital Business Change team.
- Provide coaching and guidance to project teams and business leaders on effective change management practices.
- Operate strategically while remaining hands-on, supporting delivery where required to ensure successful implementation.
Knowledge, Skills & Experience
Essential
- Recognised change management qualification (e.g. Prosci, CCMP, APMG Change Management or equivalent).
- Significant experience leading business change across complex, enterprise-scale digital transformation programmes.
- Demonstrable experience delivering change across multiple concurrent projects within a portfolio environment.
- Strong understanding of organisational change management methodologies, stakeholder engagement and business readiness.
- Proven ability to develop compelling change narratives and executive-level communications.
- Experience working with digital technologies across IT, Operational Technology (OT), Cyber or infrastructure environments.
- Excellent stakeholder management, influencing and relationship-building skills, with the ability to engage at all organisational levels.
- Strong facilitation, coaching and communication skills.
- Ability to analyse change impacts, manage competing priorities and operate effectively in a fast-paced environment.
Desirable
- Experience within the utilities, energy or critical national infrastructure sectors.
- Knowledge of Agile, Waterfall and hybrid delivery methodologies.
- Experience measuring adoption, change maturity and benefits realisation using data-driven approaches.
