Director of Client Accounting - Manchester
The Oyster Partnership
This is far more than a traditional property accounting position.
I am looking for someone who is energised by change, thrives in complex environments, and has a proven track record of transforming teams, processes, systems and service delivery.
You will be someone who has successfully led transformation programmes, improved operational performance, embedded new ways of working, and developed high-performing teams that consistently deliver exceptional outcomes.
This is an opportunity to make a genuine impact at scale.
The Opportunity:
As Director of Accounts, you will provide strategic leadership across a substantial property accounting operation, overseeing financial management for a diverse portfolio of commercial assets on behalf of major institutional investors, landlords and asset managers.
We're seeking a leader who sees change as an opportunity, not a challenge.
You'll inherit a well-established function with a talented team and strong client relationships, but with significant opportunity to imprint your own leadership style and support the office through their next set of adaptions.
The Role:
Leading Change & Transformation
- Developing and delivering the strategic vision for the property accounting function.
- Driving operational transformation initiatives across people, processes, technology and controls.
- Identifying opportunities to improve efficiency, scalability and service quality.
- Championing innovation, automation and continuous improvement.
- Leading teams through periods of growth, change and business evolution.
- Acting as a trusted advisor to key clients and stakeholders.
- Building strong relationships with investors, landlords, asset managers and senior executives.
- Supporting client retention, growth opportunities and service excellence.
- Translating complex financial information into meaningful commercial insight.
Financial & Operational Leadership
- Providing oversight of all property accounting activities including rent, service charge and client reporting.
- Driving excellence in budgeting, forecasting, financial reporting and cash management.
- Ensuring robust governance, compliance and risk management frameworks.
- Monitoring operational performance through meaningful KPIs and service metrics.
People Leadership
- Leading, coaching and developing a large, high-performing team.
- Creating a culture of accountability, engagement and continuous development.
- Building leadership capability across the department and developing future successors.
The Person:
- ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent qualification (preferred)
- Significant senior leadership experience within commercial property accounting.
- A strong understanding of service charge accounting, lease structures and property management operations.
- Experience leading large, multi-disciplinary teams.
- Proven success delivering business change, operational improvement or transformation programmes.
- Experience implementing new systems, technologies or process enhancements.
- A commercially focused mindset with the ability to balance risk, efficiency and client outcomes.
- The ability to inspire confidence at Board, client and executive level.
For the right individual, this is a career-defining opportunity to leave a genuine legacy while working with some of the most respected names in the commercial property sector.
If you've successfully led transformation within a property accounting environment and are excited by the opportunity to build something even better, we'd love to hear from you.
