Job Title: Director of Workforce Development

Location: Remote within England, with expectation of some travel

Hours: Full Time (36 per week)

Job Status: Permanent

Shape the future workforce of adult social care in England

This is one of the most influential workforce leadership roles in adult social care.

As Director of Workforce Development and member of the Executive Leadership Team, you will help shape how England develops, supports and values its care workforce over the coming decade.

Working with government, employers, people who draw on care and support, and national partners, you will lead Skills for Care's workforce development agenda across learning and development, skills and standards, culture and diversity, professional development and workforce transformation.

Joining us at a pivotal moment, you will play a leading role in implementing the Adult Social Care Workforce Strategy, influencing national workforce priorities, developing innovative learning and leadership offers and helping Skills for Care expand its impact and reach. Alongside our national leadership role, we are investing in new products, services and commercial opportunities that help us increase our impact for the sector. The successful candidate will play a key role in shaping this future offer and ensuring Skills for Care remains influential, innovative and sustainable.

This role combines national influence, organisational leadership and sector transformation. It is an opportunity to shape not only the future of Skills for Care, but the future capability and leadership of the adult social care workforce itself.

You will bring:

•           Experience of leading complex, multidisciplinary teams through change.

•           The ability to operate confidently at system level, influencing senior stakeholders across government, public services and partner organisations.

•           A track record of building capability, developing innovative offers and turning strategic ambition into measurable impact.

•           Strong commercial awareness and an ability to identify opportunities to extend both impact and income.

•           A collaborative leadership style that inspires trust, builds partnerships and creates high-performing teams.

We are entering a significant period of opportunity, with a new long-term contract with the Department of Health and Social Care, implementation of the Adult Social Care Workforce Strategy and the continued development of new learning, leadership and workforce solutions for the sector.
