Director - Quantitative Product Control & Transformation

Location: London
Salary: £130,000-£150,000 base + bonus + benefits
Sector: Investment Banking / Global Financial Markets

The Opportunity

We are partnering with a leading global financial markets business to appoint a Director - Quantitative Product Control & Transformation into its expanding Finance function.

This is a rare opportunity for a technically accomplished Product Control professional to combine deep derivatives expertise with quantitative analytics, automation and large-scale Finance transformation.

The business is investing significantly in modernising its Finance infrastructure, replacing manual processes with scalable, automated controls, advanced analytics and intelligent reporting solutions.

Working closely with senior trading stakeholders, Finance leadership and a dedicated team of data engineers, you will play a pivotal role in designing and implementing the next generation of Product Control capabilities.

This is not a traditional BAU Product Control position. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to influence how the function operates, drive meaningful technological improvements and contribute to a highly visible transformation programme.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and oversee Product Control activities across complex derivatives and structured products, ensuring accurate daily P&L, reconciliations, risk attribution and financial reporting.

  • Provide technical oversight of Independent Price Verification (IPV), valuation methodologies, pricing controls and valuation adjustments, including CVA, DVA, FVA and bid-offer reserves.

  • Partner with Front Office, Risk and Valuation teams to challenge trading results, investigate complex P&L movements and ensure robust control of trading positions.

  • Drive the automation and transformation of Product Control processes, replacing manual workflows with scalable, technology-enabled solutions.

  • Collaborate directly with data engineers and technology specialists to translate complex Finance and Product Control requirements into automated processes, analytics and dashboards.

  • Apply quantitative techniques, data analysis and technical problem-solving to improve the efficiency, accuracy and scalability of financial controls.

  • Oversee month-end close activities, structured product adjustments, balance sheet substantiation and Front Office-to-General Ledger reconciliations.

  • Strengthen control frameworks, improve data quality and support the development of new trading products and business activities.

  • Act as a senior Finance partner to trading desks, providing insight into desk economics, valuations, P&L drivers and business performance.

  • Contribute to wider Finance transformation initiatives and the development of a scalable operating model.

Experience & Skills Required

Essential:

  • Significant hands-on Product Control experience within an investment bank, trading business or market-making environment.

  • Strong working knowledge of IPV, valuation controls and complex derivatives.

  • Experience across structured products, ideally including Structured Equities, Structured Notes, Equity Derivatives, Rates, Credit or other complex OTC instruments.

  • Detailed understanding of daily P&L, risk sensitivities, Greeks, valuation adjustments and trading book controls.

  • Strong quantitative and analytical aptitude, with the ability to understand complex financial instruments and solve technically demanding problems.

  • Demonstrable experience improving Product Control processes, controls or systems.

  • Ability to work effectively with senior Front Office stakeholders, Risk, Finance and Technology teams.

  • The technical credibility, independence and leadership capability to operate at Director level.

Highly Desirable:

  • Python programming experience, particularly within Product Control, valuations, analytics or process automation.

  • SQL, Alteryx or other data analysis and automation tools.

  • Experience working directly with data engineers or developers to design and implement automated Finance solutions.

  • Strong mathematical, quantitative, engineering or technical academic background.

  • Experience with structured derivatives pricing, valuation models, advanced analytics or quantitative risk analysis.

  • Exposure to high-performance trading environments, including leading investment banks, proprietary trading firms or market makers.

  • Experience delivering Finance transformation, control automation or data-driven reporting solutions.

A professional accounting qualification (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent) would be beneficial but is not essential. We are particularly interested in candidates who demonstrate exceptional quantitative capability, technical curiosity and a strong understanding of derivatives Product Control.
