Document Controller – Commercial Fit Out / Refurbishment

Bristol City Centre | £50M+ Refurbishment & Retrofit Scheme

We are working with a leading commercial fit out contractor delivering a major £50M+ refurbishment and retrofit project in Bristol City Centre, transforming a large-scale development into a high-quality modern workspace.

Due to continued project progression, they are now looking to appoint an experienced Document Controller to join the project team.

The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the flow of project documentation and ensuring information is accurately controlled, distributed and maintained throughout the lifecycle of the project.

This is an excellent opportunity for an organised and detail-focused Document Controller to join a large-scale, high-profile project and work as part of an established delivery team.

The Role

  • Managing the controlled distribution of project documentation
  • Maintaining accurate document registers and project records
  • Uploading, reviewing and distributing drawings, specifications and technical information
  • Ensuring documents are correctly version-controlled and accessible to relevant project stakeholders
  • Managing incoming and outgoing documentation
  • Working closely with the project team, design consultants, subcontractors and suppliers
  • Monitoring document workflows and ensuring information is issued within required timescales
  • Supporting the management of RFIs, technical submissions and design information
  • Maintaining accurate records of revisions, approvals and document status
  • Assisting with the smooth flow of information across the project team

About You

  • Previous experience working as a Document Controller within construction
  • Experience within commercial fit out, refurbishment, retrofit or main contracting would be advantageous
  • Strong knowledge of document control processes and systems
  • Experience managing drawings, specifications and technical documentation
  • Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work with multiple stakeholders
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and confident working with document management systems
  • Experience with platforms such as Viewpoint, Asite, Aconex, Procore or similar would be beneficial
