Domestic Abuse Solicitor (NQ – 2 PQE)
£35-50K + Legal Aid Experience Gained + Career Development
A highly regarded, specialist law firm with a strong presence in publicly funded family work is seeking a Domestic Abuse Solicitor to join its growing team.
This is an excellent opportunity for a newly qualified to junior solicitor looking to build a career in a meaningful and impactful area of law, working directly with vulnerable clients and handling urgent, high-priority matters.
The Role
You will manage a varied caseload of domestic abuse matters, providing expert legal advice and representation to survivors, while maintaining the highest standards of client care and compliance.
Key responsibilities include:
Client Work & Case Management
- Advising and representing survivors of domestic abuse with sensitivity and professionalism
- Managing a caseload of emergency and complex matters independently
- Preparing and issuing urgent applications, including: Non-Molestation Orders, Occupation Orders and Prohibited Steps Orders
- Drafting witness statements, court bundles, and supporting documentation
- Liaising with courts, police, support organisations, and third parties
- Managing Legal Aid applications via CCMS, including emergency submissions
- Maintaining strict confidentiality and safeguarding standards
Teamwork & Supervision
- Working closely with colleagues, paralegals, and support staff
- Participating in team meetings, training, and case discussions
- Contributing to a collaborative and inclusive team culture
Professional Development & Compliance
- Keeping up to date with developments in family law and domestic abuse legislation
- Ensuring full compliance with SRA and Legal Aid Agency requirements
- Supporting internal best practice and quality assurance initiatives
About You
- Qualified Solicitor in England & Wales (NQ – 2 years PQE)
- Experience in family law and domestic abuse matters (including pre-qualification)
- Strong understanding of Legal Aid processes and CCMS
- Confident managing a caseload and working in a fast-paced environment
- Advocacy experience desirable
- Excellent drafting, communication, and organisational skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and case management systems
- Demonstrates a compassionate, trauma-informed approach to client care
Desirable Experience
- Experience supervising or mentoring junior colleagues
- Additional language skills
- Involvement in community outreach or public engagement
