Domestic Electrician - Social Housing Maintenance
Location: Sunderland
Pay Rate: £39,038.00
Contract: Permanent
Hours: 36 Hours Monday To Friday
Think Property Services are currently recruiting for an experienced and fully qualified Electrician to work with a well-established organisation within the social housing maintenance sector.
This is an excellent opportunity for a reliable and experienced Electrician to join a busy repairs and maintenance team, carrying out work across occupied and void domestic properties.
The Role
You will be responsible for carrying out high-quality Electrical maintenance, repair and improvement works within social housing properties.
You'll join our clients Empty Homes Team, carrying out EICR testing and repairs in vacant properties, with opportunities to complete full rewires and occasional call‑back repairs in occupied homes. This role is ideal for an experienced Electrician with strong knowledge of Health & Safety regulations, Codes of Practice, and electrical work in both domestic and commercial settings.

Our client supports a great work-life balance, you will work a standard 36-hour working week, Mon - Fri, with an early finish on Fridays.

Duties will include:
Carry out repairs, maintenance, installation, and testing work to domestic and non-domestic properties.
Carry out domestic and commercial electrical work e.g. shower replacements.
Complete all necessary electronic certification as required by the client in line with relevant British Standards and Regulatory bodies applicable to the work carried out.
Ensure all work carried out meets the minimum standards set by the current Edition of the IET Wiring Regulations (currently 18th edition) and Gentoo Group
Carry out all work in an efficient, timely manner.
Liaise with Line Managers regarding the status of all work.
The Group operate an Emergency Out of Hours Service, which you may be required to work on a rota basis as and when required.
Completing repairs and maintenance works to a high standard
Working in occupied and void domestic properties
Diagnosing faults and completing works efficiently
Ensuring all work is completed in line with health and safety standards
Providing good customer service when working in tenants' homes
Working independently and as part of a wider repairs team
Completing paperwork or job updates where required
Requirements
The successful candidate will ideally have:
Previous experience working within social housing, domestic maintenance or repairs
Relevant trade qualifications, where applicable
Own tools and transport, if required for the role
Full UK driving licence
Strong customer service skills
Ability to work safely and professionally in occupied properties
A reliable and hardworking attitude
