Smart Teachers is recruiting a passionate and creative Drama Teacher to join a successful and supportive secondary school in Newham from September 2026.

This is an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic teacher to inspire students through high-quality Drama teaching at Key Stage 3. The successful candidate will be committed to fostering creativity, confidence and a love of performance while contributing to a thriving Performing Arts department.

The Role

As a Drama Teacher, you will:

  • Plan and deliver engaging Drama lessons to KS3 students.
  • Create an inclusive learning environment where all students can develop their creativity and performance skills.
  • Differentiate learning to meet the needs of all learners.
  • Assess, monitor and report on student progress, providing timely and constructive feedback.
  • Establish high expectations for behaviour, participation and achievement.
  • Contribute to the wider life of the department through extracurricular activities, performances and school productions where appropriate.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues to support curriculum development and share best practice.

The Ideal Candidate

The successful applicant will:

  • Hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an equivalent recognised teaching qualification.
  • Have experience teaching Drama in a secondary school setting.
  • Demonstrate excellent classroom management and strong subject knowledge.
  • Be passionate about inspiring young people through the performing arts.
  • Have excellent communication, organisational and interpersonal skills.
  • Be committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.

Requirements

To be considered for this role, you must:

  • Hold QTS or an equivalent teaching qualification.

  • Be committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
