Littlehampton Welding Ltd is looking for an experienced Draughtsman / Tekla Detailer to join our in-house design and detailing team.

We are a well-established specialist steelwork contractor delivering complex architectural and structural steelwork projects throughout the UK. Our work includes feature staircases, balustrades, architectural metalwork, structural steelwork and bespoke fabricated structures.

The successful candidate will be responsible for producing accurate fabrication and construction information from architectural and structural designs, working closely with our contracts, production and site teams.

Key responsibilities

• Producing detailed 3D models, general arrangement drawings, fabrication drawings and material lists
• Preparing accurate assembly and single-part drawings for manufacture
• Producing site installation drawings and construction details
• Reviewing architectural and structural information to identify clashes, missing information and buildability issues
• Coordinating with clients, architects, engineers and other trades
• Incorporating design comments and revisions into drawings and models
• Supporting the workshop and site teams with technical and drawing-related queries
• Ensuring drawings are produced accurately and in line with project programmes
• Maintaining drawing registers and assisting with the production of as-built information
• Working within the company’s quality procedures and relevant execution class requirements

Experience and skills

• Previous experience in steelwork or architectural metalwork detailing
• Tekla Structures experience is strongly preferred
• Experience producing fabrication drawings for structural or architectural steelwork
• A good understanding of steel fabrication, welding, connections and installation methods
• Ability to interpret architectural, structural and engineering drawings
• Strong attention to detail and a practical understanding of buildability
• Good communication and organisational skills
• Ability to manage your own workload and work across several live projects
• AutoCAD experience would be beneficial
• Experience with staircases, balustrades, feature steelwork or complex architectural metalwork would be advantageous

The role may suit an experienced Tekla Detailer, Steelwork Draughtsman, CAD Technician or Design Technician with a background in structural steelwork or architectural metalwork.

Hours and benefits

• Monday to Friday, 9:00am to 5:30pm
• 25 days’ annual holiday plus bank holidays
