Overview

At Harrow Green we are seeking a professional and reliable Driver/Porter specialising in HGV and LGV operations. The ideal candidate will be responsible for the safe and efficient transportation of goods, ensuring timely deliveries whilst maintaining high standards of vehicle safety and compliance. This role offers an excellent opportunity for individuals with a passion for driving and logistics to contribute to a dynamic team.

Main Tasks and Responsibilities of Job:
Leading, managing and motivating small teams. Moving/relocating/installing office furniture and other items internally, to new premises, recycling centres or via storage.

  • Driving company vehicles as entitlements allow.
  • Conducting technical aspects of decommissioning/commissioning of either furniture and/or IT.
  • Maintaining and complying with all company and legislation requirements.
  • Promoting company core standards and values.
  • Assisting the management of external contractors during delivery.
  • Educating, training and developing other team members in delivery emphasising best practice, quality and standards.
  • Ensuring the furnishing of extensive property protection to ensure delivery of service levels.
  • Ensure working practices are safe and follow company best practice standards.
  • Acting as a client liaison on site between different departments and the on-site team.
  • Completing regular removals activities as and when required.

Qualifications:

  • Educated to A Level or equivalent.
  • Full UK Cat B license (Desirable)
  • CSCS Card (desirable)
  • IOSH Working Safely or equivalent (desirable)
  • Asbestos Awareness (Desirable)

Skills:

  • Comfortable working in a physically demanding environment
  • Can deal with change.
  • Proactively spot potential pitfalls and overcome.
  • Polite, friendly manner and good communication skills.
  • Careful and methodical approach to work.
  • An honest and responsible attitude to other people's property.
  • A strong team player

General:

  • The above is not an exhaustive list of your duties and you will be expected to perform different tasks as become necessary towards achieving the overall business objectives of the organisation.

Hours of Work:

  • Working to the needs of the business for a minimum of 45 hour across the week, which will include weekends or evenings.
  • Moves between longer distances could involve overnight stays in lodgings or in a vehicle whether in the UK or oversea’s.
