The Role:
The successful candidate will provide a reliable transportation service for the collection and delivery of customer and supplier goods throughout the UK, typically 3 to 4 days per week.
When not driving, the role will support the Stores Department with goods receipt, goods dispatch, stock control, batch work counting and general warehouse activities.
Full training will be provided for all aspects of the role.
Key Responsibilities:
Driving Duties
- Safely collect and deliver parts, materials and products to customers and suppliers across the UK using a long wheel base van 3.5t
- Carry out vehicle checks and ensure the company vehicles are maintained in a clean, safe and roadworthy condition. (Tyres pressures & visible damage, checking oil levels & coolant levels prior to Journeys
- Plan routes efficiently to meet delivery schedules and customer requirements.
- Complete delivery paperwork accurately and obtain proof of delivery where required.
- Ensure goods are loaded, secured and transported safely.
- Comply with all road traffic regulations, company procedures and Health & Safety requirements.
Stores & Warehouse Support
- Assist with booking goods in and out using company computer systems.
- Verify delivery notes and purchase orders against goods received.
- Count batch work and stock items, ensuring quantities match supporting documentation.
- Support stock control activities, including stock checks and maintaining inventory accuracy.
- Prepare and package goods for dispatch.
- Maintain an organised, tidy and safe stores environment.
- Assist with loading and unloading vehicles when required.
- Support continuous improvement of stores processes and housekeeping standards.
Skills & Experience Required
- A full UK driving licence is essential due to the requirement to drive company vehicles and complete customer and supplier deliveries.
- Suitable and relevant experience driving a long wheel base van
- Good communication and organisational skills.
- Basic computer literacy and willingness to learn company systems.
- Ability to accurately complete paperwork and maintain records.
- Good attention to detail when checking quantities and documentation.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Ability to undertake required UK travel as part of the role.
Desirable Experience
- Previous experience within a Stores, Warehouse, Logistics, or Manufacturing environment.
- Forklift Truck (FLT) experience or licence.
- Experience using stock control or ERP systems.
- Knowledge of goods-in and goods-out processes.
