A client  is a leading UK manufacturer of high-quality forged components, supplying critical industries where strength, durability and precision are essential. We are seeking an experienced Drop Hammer Press Operator / Stamper to join our forging team as the business continues to expand.

Role Overview

You will operate multiple Massey 1-ton and 2-ton drop forging hammers, clipping presses, and associated forging equipment to produce high-integrity forged components to specification.

This is a physically demanding, safety-critical role requiring proven experience and a strong awareness of hot metal forming processes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operate Massey 1T & 2T drop hammers safely and efficiently
  • Set up tooling, dies, and workstations for production runs
  • Forge heated billets to required shapes and tolerances
  • Operate clipping/trimming presses to remove flash and finish forgings
  • Monitor forging quality and dimensional accuracy
  • Adjust hammer blows and positioning based on material behaviour and die fill
  • Perform routine checks and basic maintenance of machinery
  • Work in coordination with furnace operators, setters and inspectors
  • Follow production schedules and meet output targets
  • Maintain a clean, organised and safe working environment
  • Comply with all health & safety and PPE requirements

Essential Requirements

✔ Proven experience operating drop forging hammers or power hammers
✔ Experience in hot forging, stamping, or heavy press operations
✔ Competent working with heated metal and forging dies
✔ Ability to operate multiple machines and maintain production flow
✔ Strong understanding of workplace safety in a heavy manufacturing environment
✔ Ability to read job cards, drawings, or production specifications
✔ Physically fit and comfortable working in a hot, noisy industrial environment
✔ Reliable, punctual and safety-focused

Desirable Skills & Experience

➕ Experience with Massey forging hammers or similar equipment
➕ Experience operating clipping presses or trimming presses
➕ Overhead crane / slinging certification
➕ FLT licence
➕ Experience working to ISO or aerospace quality standards
➕ Basic mechanical aptitude for tool changes and adjustments
