Design & Technology Technician – Haringey
We are currently working with a welcoming and well-established secondary school in Haringey who are looking to appoint a skilled and enthusiastic Design & Technology Technician to join their school community from September 2026.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a practical background in Design & Technology, Engineering, Construction, Product Design, Resistant Materials, or a related field who enjoys working in an educational environment and supporting students to develop their practical skills.
The Role:
As a DT Technician, you will work closely with the school's DT teaching team to ensure workshops, classrooms and equipment are prepared and maintained to a high standard.
Your responsibilities will include:
  • Preparing materials, tools and equipment for practical DT lessons.
  • Supporting teachers during practical lessons and assisting students where appropriate.
  • Maintaining and organising DT workshops, classrooms and storage areas.
  • Ensuring tools, machinery and equipment are safe, clean and ready for use.
  • Carrying out basic maintenance and repairs of equipment where appropriate.
  • Managing stock levels and ordering or preparing materials when required.
  • Supporting with displays, student projects and practical demonstrations.
  • Ensuring appropriate health and safety procedures are followed at all times.
  • Working collaboratively with the DT department to provide an effective and engaging learning environment.
The successful candidate will ideally have:
  • Previous experience working as a DT Technician, Workshop Technician, Engineering Technician, Design Technology Assistant or in a similar practical role.
  • Strong practical skills and confidence using a range of tools, machinery and workshop equipment.
  • Knowledge of health and safety procedures within a workshop environment.
  • Excellent organisational and time-management skills.
  • A practical, proactive and hands-on approach.
  • The ability to work effectively alongside teaching staff and support students.
  • Good communication skills and a professional approach.
  • Experience working within a school or educational environment is desirable but not essential.
  • DBS on the Update Service or be willing to have one put in process asap.
