EAL Learning Support Assistant (LSA) - Secondary School - Barnet - September 2026 Start - Full-Time

Tradewind Recruitment is partnering with a welcoming and inclusive secondary school in Barnet seeking to appoint a dedicated EAL Learning Support Assistant (LSA) from September 2026. This full-time role is ideal for graduates, aspiring teachers, linguistics students, or individuals considering a future career in education, SEN support, pastoral care, or language development.

The Role

As an EAL Learning Support Assistant, you will work closely with teaching staff, the SEN and EAL teams, and students to support language acquisition, classroom engagement, and academic achievement across Key Stages 3 and 4.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting students with English as an Additional Language (EAL) across a range of curriculum subjects
  • Providing one-to-one and small group interventions to develop language skills and confidence
  • Assisting students with reading, writing, speaking, and listening activities
  • Helping learners access the curriculum by adapting resources and clarifying language where required
  • Working collaboratively with teachers to deliver targeted language support strategies
  • Encouraging students to become confident, independent learners
  • Supporting the integration of newly arrived students into school life
  • Monitoring progress and providing feedback to teaching and inclusion staff
  • Assisting with pastoral and wellbeing support where appropriate
  • Contributing to a positive, inclusive, and supportive learning environment


The Ideal Candidate

The school is looking for an enthusiastic and committed individual who is passionate about inclusion and supporting students to succeed.

You will have:

  • A degree or relevant experience working with young people
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • An understanding of, or interest in, language acquisition and EAL support
  • The ability to build positive relationships with students from diverse backgrounds
  • A patient, proactive, and encouraging approach
  • Excellent organisational and teamwork skills
  • A genuine passion for education and helping young people achieve their potential

Previous experience in education, tutoring, mentoring, youth work, language support, or EAL interventions is desirable but not essential.
