Early Years Educator Level 2

Reports to: Room Leader / Deputy Manager / Nursery Manager
Location: Kids Planet North Wingfield
Hours: As agreed in contract

Job Purpose

To provide high-quality care and education for children aged 0-5 years, ensuring their safety, wellbeing, and development in line with the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS). The Early Years Educator will work as part of a team to create a stimulating, safe and inclusive environment where children can learn and thrive.

Key Responsibilities

Childcare and Education
  • Support children's learning and development through play and planned activities.
  • Deliver high-quality care that meets each child's individual needs.
  • Observe, assess and record children's progress in line with EYFS requirements.
  • Encourage children's social, emotional, physical and intellectual development.
  • Support children to become independent and confident learners.
Key Person Responsibilities
  • Act as a key person for a group of children.
  • Build positive relationships with parents and carers.
  • Share information regarding children's progress and development.
  • Maintain accurate records and learning journeys.
Safeguarding and Welfare
  • Promote the health, safety and wellbeing of all children.
  • Follow all safeguarding and child protection policies and procedures.
  • Report any concerns regarding a child's welfare immediately.
  • Ensure ratios and supervision requirements are maintained.
Environment and Resources
  • Help prepare and maintain a safe, stimulating learning environment.
  • Ensure toys, equipment and resources are clean, safe and appropriate.
  • Support indoor and outdoor learning experiences.
Team Working
  • Work effectively with colleagues to provide outstanding childcare.
  • Attend staff meetings, training and professional development opportunities.
  • Contribute ideas to planning and nursery improvement.
  • Act as a positive role model for children and colleagues.
Professional Responsibilities
  • Adhere to all nursery policies, procedures and regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain confidentiality at all times.
  • Promote equality, diversity and inclusion.
  • Support the nursery in achieving and maintaining high standards of care and education.
Qualifications and Experience

Essential
  • Level 2 Early Years qualification recognised by the Department for Education.
  • Knowledge of the EYFS framework.
  • Understanding of safeguarding and child protection procedures.
  • Experience of working with young children in an early years setting.
Desirable
  • Paediatric First Aid qualification.
  • Experience as a Key Person.
  • Knowledge of SEND and inclusive practice.
Skills and Attributes
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to build positive relationships with children, parents and colleagues.
  • Good organisational skills.
  • Ability to work as part of a team and use initiative.
  • Caring, enthusiastic and professional approach.
