Early Years Teaching Assistant

ABOUT THE SCHOOL
Prospero Teaching is seeking an experienced Early Years Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming one form-entry primary school in Thornton Heath, Croydon. The school has an inclusive environment and is committed to providing early education that supports every child to thrive. The successful candidate will work within the EYFS supporting children's learning and development through activities, interventions and support.

This position is open to experienced Early Years Teaching Assistants and Nursery Practitioners who hold a recognised Level 3 qualification in Early Years.

CONTRACT/POSITION DETAILS
Location: Thornton Heath, Croydon
Position: Early Years Teaching Assistant
Type of Work: Supporting children within the EYFS through classroom-based learning, play-led activities, phonics support, small-group interventions, and individual pupil support
Start Date: September 2026
Contract Type: Full Time
Rate of Pay: GBP100- GBP115 per day (depending on experience)
Hours: 8:15am - 3:30pm, Monday to Friday (term time only)

EXPERIENCE, TRAINING AND QUALIFICATIONS
Hold a recognised Level 3 Early Years, Childcare, or Teaching Assistant Qualification
Previous experience working within a nursery, preschool, Reception class, or primary school Early Years setting
Good understanding of the Early Years Foundation Stage framework
Experience supporting children's communication, language, literacy, and numeracy development
Ability to support children's personal, social, and emotional development through positive interactions and play
Experience supporting children with additional needs, including SEND, is desirable
Strong understanding of safeguarding and child protection procedures
Up-to-date Safeguarding Training
GCSE English and Mathematics at Grade C/4 or above (or equivalent)

TO BE ELIGIBLE FOR THIS ROLE THROUGH PROSPERO TEACHING, YOU MUST:
Hold Right to Work in the UK
Hold an enhanced child barred list DBS certificate registered with the online update service or be willing to process a new application
Provide two professional child-related references covering at least the last two years
Hold a recognised Level 3 Early Years, Childcare, or Teaching Assistant Qualification (or equivalent)
