Hours: 8:00am – 3:15pm

Job Description
We are seeking a warm, enthusiastic, and dedicated Early Years Teaching Assistant to join the Reception team at a lovely, welcoming primary school in Plumstead.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is passionate about working with young children and wants to become a valued, long-term member of a supportive school community. You will work closely with the Reception teacher and wider team to create a nurturing, engaging, and stimulating environment where children feel happy, confident, and ready to learn.
The school has a strong focus on providing children with a positive start to their education, supporting their development across all areas of the EYFS while encouraging curiosity, independence, and a love of learning.
Key Responsibilities
  • Support the Reception teacher with the delivery of engaging learning activities in line with the EYFS framework
  • Provide a warm, nurturing, and inclusive environment where every child feels valued and supported
  • Support children with their social, emotional, physical, and educational development
  • Encourage children’s independence, confidence, communication, and curiosity
  • Assist with observations, assessment, and monitoring children’s progress
  • Work with individuals and small groups to support learning and development
  • Promote positive behaviour and help children develop strong relationships with their peers
  • Support classroom routines, organisation, and preparation of learning resources
  • Build positive and professional relationships with children, parents, carers, and colleagues
  • Follow school policies and maintain high standards of safeguarding and child welfare
  • Work collaboratively as part of the Reception team and wider school community
About You
  • Experience working with children in an Early Years or Reception setting
  • A relevant Early Years qualification or experience would be advantageous
  • Passionate about supporting young children and their development
  • Warm, patient, nurturing, and enthusiastic
  • Reliable, proactive, and able to work effectively as part of a team
  • Confident supporting children with different needs and abilities
  • Able to communicate effectively with children, families, and colleagues
  • Committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children
  • Keen to develop professionally and build a long-term career within a school environment
